Sophie Kohn is an award-winning magazine writer, editor, and children’s book author originally from Toronto. Her bylines have appeared in The New Yorker, Hazlitt, Outpost, McSweeney’s, Chatelaine, Reader’s Digest, and all over CBC Radio as well as NPR. Sophie is passionate about climate justice and environmental stewardship and has previously served as the head writer for Gen Dread, Dr. Britt Wray’s popular online newsletter about climate and mental health, as well as the head writer for Moms Together, a nonprofit that helps orient and mobilize moms across Canada in the direction of climate action. Her first children’s book, KATRINA HYENA, is about a laughing hyena who laughs at the wrong times, and was published by Owlkids Books in 2024. Sophie lives in beautiful Nelson, B.C. with her family and is happiest in the forest with some instruments, some ’90s songs, a campfire, and a circle of good friends.
