Come join us for a hike up the Coquitlam Crunch trail! Along the way we will use iNaturalist (for the adults) and iSeek (for the kids) to look at and identify nature around us! It’s not required, but please consider downloading these apps to your phone prior to the event. We will use the apps for nature bingo, and encourage you to share with us what you find.
We anticipate the event being 2 hours in duration (longer if you want to stay for a picnic lunch after)
Meeting time: 10 am (please come a little early to sign in)
Date: Sunday, September 7th
Location: start of Coquitlam Crunch Trail, parking lot located at 2635 Runnel Drive, Coquitlam
The trail is 2.9 km to the top of Westwood Plateau with an elevation gain of 261 m. You are welcome to complete the trail, or just do a portion. When we all gather again after the hike, Nature Kids is providing a cake to celebrate 25 years of outdoor adventure in communities across BC! That is something to celebrate!
What should I bring? Water bottle, sunscreen and dress for the weather, hopefully sunshine but rain gear if needed (we go rain or shine) and proper footwear. If you like, you can stay for a picnic after the event on the grassy field.
Washrooms and water fountains are available at the grass field (adjacent to Harrier Park)
Meeting location: parking lot at 2635 Runnel Drive, Coquitlam
This event is co hosted with City of Coquitlam Parks staff who will also be there to answer any questions you have!
