Meet Anna, one of our amazing NatureKids BC volunteers that helps provide meaningful moments in nature for families in the Mission area!
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you experience nature around you?
Whether weeding cabbages, cycling a country road in Albania, or route finding on a wilderness trail, I am passionate about nature-based education. I am a mum of two young kids as well as a BC-certified teacher and forest and nature school facilitator.
As a kid, I was fortunate to spend lots of time outdoors exploring the forests and beaches in and around Vancouver. Whether biking to a camp spot, floating in a lake or poking around in my garden I feel happiest when I’m out in nature. As I parent I want to share the joy of nature connection with my kids.
What do you like about volunteering and what inspired you to join NatureKids BC?
Volunteering with NatureKids gives me and my family a chance to explore beautiful places while meeting other likeminded families. We love exploring as a family but scheduled events keep us committed to getting outdoors.
Do you have a favourite NatureKids moment that you can share with us?
It’s the small moments I remember best, such as two kids who only just met holding hands on a nature walk, or spotting a mysterious creature while dipping our nets into a pond.
