Geology Rocks!
We will be welcoming geologist and NatureKids co-leader Carly Ristow as our nature mentor this month. Carly is a graduate from the geology and sustainability program at Dalhousie University. She has a passion for the natural world and has spent time working in a gold exploration camp in Western Australia and in oil and gas exploration in Trinidad and Tobago. Carly’s interests lie in outdoor education and she is currently pursuing this as a teaching assistant at the Nelson Waldorf school.
During this month’s event we will be introduced to the geologic history of the Kootenays. We will get to explore samples of different rock types and create dioramas of the moutainous region that we call home. Please come dressed for the weather and ready to learn!
Location: Lakeside Park
