Riverside Trail Walk at Slocan Pool
We’ll be taking a nature walk along the lovely riverside trail at Slocan Pool. This is an easy hike on a loop trail with many side trails to explore. Our focus for this morning will be child-led exploration! We’ll bring our nature investigation tools like magnifying glasses and field guides, play games, and pause to write and draw in our nature journals.
A bonus on his trail is that there are several geocaches hidden along the way. Lets see if we can find a few! Feel free to bring small items to exchange in the geocaches. Parents can also download the official geocaching app to see the locations.
Our walk will wrap up at the beach. Water is high but on our last visit a few days ago there was still a bit of beach to explore. If you’d like to stay and maybe have a picnic lunch please feel free!
Directions from Nelson: west on Hwy 3 towards Castlegar, turn left at the Dam Inn. Follow the road to the bottom of the hill where you will see a parking lot outside the Fortis gate. We will meet at the parking area and walk to the trailhead together. There are no bathroom facilities.
