Another Explorer Day is on the horizon! In this month when we marvel over the beauty of so many flowering plants, we shall seek out some of the shyer native species, learn their names and find out how to recognize them by characteristics such as leaf patterns and flower petal arrangements. Surprisingly, plants have a remarkable ability to grow quickly, but how do they do this? What are the ingredients for their success? Are they important to us humans? We’ll check to see if some are struggling and determine whether we can assist them by removing invasive weeds, those bully plants that don’t belong here. This is an important stewardship activity to learn about maintaining biodiversity and keeping our parks as nature intended them. Creating forest creatures from the invasives we remove will be super fun!

When: Monday, May 19  from 10 am til noon

Where: Meet us at the entrance to Mouat Park opposite the driveway to the pool on Rainbow Road.  Parking at the pool is recommended.

What to wear: Dress for the weather with boots if necessary, and a hat.
What to bring: Garden gloves (we will be providing some), and pruners (if you have them) for use by the adults.
