Join the Loon Foundation for our very first Explorer Day on Saturday, May 9, from 8:00–9:30 PM, featuring a guided bat walk led by Michelle Evelyn, leader of the Sunshine Coast Wildlife Project and member of the BC Bat Action Team. Set against the beautiful backdrop of Banditry Cider in Gibsons, this after-hours experience invites families to explore the orchard’s rich, biodiverse ecosystem as night falls.
Young explorers will have a rare chance to use real bat detectors to experience the hidden world of local bats. Learn (and listen) to identify species like the Yuma Myotis and Silver-haired Bat, and discover the essential role these fascinating creatures play in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
This hands-on evening blends science, nature, and a sense of wonder, perfect for curious minds eager to connect with the natural world in a unique and memorable setting.
