VANCOUVER – A walk through Maplewood Mudflats
- 1:15 pm - 2:30 pm
We’re starting off 2024 with a visit to the Maplewood Flats in North Vancouver on Saturday, January 27, 1:15 to 2:30PM (approx. end time). Our Nature Mentor, Sam MacTavish, will be guiding us along the forest trails and along the shoreline of Burrard Inlet while highlighting the wide variety of plants and birds that we might see in this wild bird sanctuary. We’ll also learn about some of the habitat restoration work being done at the Flats. This is an easy 1 hour walk with lots of stops, suitable for all ages.
Sam works with Wild Bird Trust at the Coast Salish Native Plant Nursery and as part of the habitat restoration team. Sam loves to share his knowledge of nature with others.
“Maplewood Flats is situated within the traditional and unceded territory of the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. The area has been occupied by Tsleil-Waututh and Coast Salish People since time immemorial” (Wild Bird Trust).
