Earth Day BBQ and Natureblitz
The Boys and Girl Club Wilderness Camp Property in Metchosin is co-hosting an Earth Day BBQ and Natureblitz with Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) and Metchosin Biodiversity. The property has 99 acres of wonderful wilderness to discover. There will be expert-led talks and walks on fungi and plants by Kem Luther and Andy MacKinnon, and many more! There will be a band and plenty of activities, including a possible scavenger hunt so you will need to keep your eyes peeled and work up your appetite for the delicious BBQ to follow.
HAT will also be offering introductory training on the use of the iNaturalist phone app. The iNaturalist App is a free App that will allow the public to help photograph and inventory Metchosin species. If you are interested in the iNaturalist App training session, it starts at noon, so if you arrive late, please find the group there. Please bring your own tablet or smartphone and make sure to download the app before you get there.
This is a FREE event that is open to the public. EVERYONE is welcome.
COME PREPARED: It’s probably a good idea to wear proper hiking shoes and layer up as Spring weather can be unpredictable. It never hurts to bring your own water bottle too. Please note the BBQ is by donation.
Location: 3900 Metchosin Road. Parking is available in the main lot. There will be signage to the camp centre where we will meet.
