Wandering Willows Beach Clean-up
Time to enjoy the beach and keep it enjoyable for generations to come! On this Explorer Day we will meet up with our nature mentor Jacquelyn Cantwell, Combing the Coast Coordinator with the Surfrider Foundation (Vancouver Island Chapter). The Surfrider organization works as a team on a number of campaigns and programs with the common goal of protecting the ocean and our beaches through education and environmental stewardship.
Jacquelyn will teach us about the impacts of garbage, especially plastic, on the ocean and talk about things we can all do to reduce plastics at home, at school, and in our communities. After a short talk, we will clean the beach for about 30 minutes and then examine what we have found.
We live in a world of plastic but also in a beautiful environment that we would like to preserve for future generations. It is up to us to educate ourselves and spread the word about plastic pollution. Here is a website with some interesting facts about plastic. Website: https://plasticoceans.org/ projects/
Location: We will meet at the TEA HOUSE at Willows Beach right next to the playground.
