In response to COVID-19, NatureKids BC is providing online resources and interactions, such as Virtual Explorer Days, to ensure the safety of our members. Please read our COVID-19 Guidelines and Policy for any potential in-person gatherings this summer.
Join us for Buzzapalooza! It’s a celebration of pollinators and other amazing insects at the at Bilston Creek Farm’s Summer Lavender Festival. From butterflies and bees to dragonflies and more, these tiny giants knit together the fragrant, lovely world of plants, keeping everything in bloom. Come see!
Activities:
- Insect Foray with Scientists. Meet professional entomologists Claudia and Darren Copley who will introduce us to live insects and show how to find, handle and respect these busy creatures at work.
- Scavenger Hunt. Hidden around the farm, you can search for 36 local insect heroes rendered in full colour by artists. Find all the pictures to enter a prize draw! Art cards of these insects, a project of the Metchosin Foundation, will be available for sale.
- Minibeast Costume Contest. Use your imagination to design your own insect costume to wear to Buzzapalooza. Who will you be-e-e? We can’t wait to see! Wings and antennae welcome—homemade/homespun or recycled costumes encouraged. Live music will give our “bugs” a chance to jitter ‘n’ groove.
This event is a collaboration of Bilston Creek Farm, the Metchosin Foundation and Westshore NatureKids.

REGISTRATION (limited to approximately 30 children + adults): Please let us know that you’d like to attend by emailing westshore@naturekidsbc.ca. Indicate how many people in your family will be coming. Maximum of 30 NatureKids child attendees.
