DESCRIPTION:Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn how to turn regionally invasive plants\, Horse Chestnut and Morning Glory\, into functional\, beautiful keychains. \nWhile working with these natural materials\, we’ll explore their histories\, ecological impacts\, and stories.Participants will explore cordage weaving and basic woodworking. \nWe will meet at the picnic table near the zipline. \nThis workshop is best suited for those aged 8+\, as cordage-making requires some dexterity. Pre-made cordage will be available for anyone who prefers it. The workshop also includes the use of low-powered electric drills. \nAbout the Facilitator:Joshua Ralph is a nature mentor and community-engaged eco-artist behind the Invasive Art Initiative. His work bridges ecology and creativity\, offering new ways to relate to “invasive species” through ethically harvested\, repurposed plant materials. DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to announce our collaboration with Alouette River Management Society’s (A.R.M.S.) September 27th Rivers Day in Maple Ridge! \nWe plan to choose an area along the Alouette River to clean up trash with tongs and bags and learn about how littering negatively effects the habitats of so many different creatures. We have not yet determined the location but it will likely be at or near Maple Ridge Park. \nIn light of the ongoing COVID-19 crises\, this event must\, unfortunately\, be limited to only 4 families. This will allow us to keep our group relatively small and social distancing between families more successful. \nThe event will take place between 11am and 1pm. \nPlease rsvp as soon as you can to reserve a spot in this event with us and help us help the creatures of our river habitats.

DESCRIPTION:Fish Release at Maple Ridge Park! \nThis event will be in collaboration with A.R.M.S. (Alouette River Management Society) and ALLCO Fish Hatcheries. It will include releasing around 5000 chinook fry into the Alouette River! There is a water park\, playground\, field and of course the shallow river for children and families to play at before and after the event\, so just know there is lots to do incase you’re early or choose to stay later.
