Come join us and Nature Mention Janne Perrin from the Chilliwack Field Naturalists to see who stick around for winter! Snack provided 😉 \nInspired by the well-loved Christmas Bird Count\, the CBC4Kids engages new generations of young birders across North America.\nCBC4Kids events are coordinated locally by naturalist groups throughout December and January. Experienced guides show participants how to identify local bird life and use binoculars\, then lead them outside to find and count birds. After their adventures\, the young Citizen Scientists enjoy hot cocoa together and share their observations. Their findings are submitted through an online checklist and reported to eBird\, where they can be used in scientific research. \nLocation: Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Annex

DESCRIPTION:Christmas Parade! \nJoin us on Dec 1 as we march in the Chilliwack Christmas Parade! Our theme\, of course\, is Nature and our goal\, of course\, is to have the least amount of impact. We are asking that everyone come prepared with something; a decorated scooter/bike or wagon; maybe an umbrella decorated with lights? Marla and I will be making two signs for us to use and will need a couple volunteers to help us carry them!! Be creative and have fun. \nWhere: Evergreen Hall\nWhen:  December 1st\nTime:  4:30/5: pizza dinner\n5:30: meet at walkers tent to wait for our turn\n6: parade starts \nLocation\, parade details and parking:  There is no parking at Evergreen Hall. There is option to drop off and Marla and I can be available to help with kids if you need. The route takes us back to Evergreen Hall. The route is about a hour long. We’d like to engage with the kids at the parade and are looking for some suggestions on what to hand out…. originally we thought candy canes\, but thought maybe we could brainstorm something different…. thoughts? \nAlso\, please be prepared for rain. It seems to rain every year. I love the idea of showing off how our group will run rain or shine though!

DESCRIPTION:The buds are swelling\, and the birds are busying themselves with calling for mates and searching for nest sites – spring is almost here. Among the trees and bushes animals hide\, sleep\, build nests\, drink nectar\, eat luscious berries\, and pluck plump insects from under leaves. \nHabitat loss means that this idyllic setting is becoming scarcer\, and we think our NatureKids are exactly the conservation heroes needed to create just such a place\, a hide-and-seek for birds and other critters. \nPlease join us for a stewardship planting in one another’s good company and learn from our remarkable and amusing nature mentor\, Gord Gadsden\, on March 17 from 1-3 p.m. at the Cheam Lake Wetlands. This event is rain or shine as the time is right to allow the roots to establish themselves\, while the rain is plentiful.
