SUMMARY:VANCOUVER- Spring Walk in the Camosun Bog
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Camosun Bog in Pacific Spirit Park on Sunday\, May 31st\, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (approx) for a spring exploration of the amazing Camosun Bog. We will be joining volunteers Noriko Nakaya and Eleanore Wellwood from Camosun Bog Restoration Group (CBRG) to learn more about what they do\, what CBRG is and the importance of maintaining this natural ecosystem that still remains in our city after so many others have disappeared. We will see a variety of species\, including sphagnum mosses\, sundews (carnivorous plants)\, bog cranberry\, interesting fungi and different birds\, perhaps even a Turkey Vulture which is very common around the bog. \nInteresting fact: Camosun Bog’s history can be traced back ten thousand years! \nRead more about Camosun Bog’s history and ecology here.\n\nRegister here.\n\nMeeting location: Camosun Bog entrance. Please arrive 5 to 10 minutes prior to the beginning of our walk.\n\nTransit: TransLink routes 025 and 033 run on 16th Ave. While the TransLink 007 route will come down on Dunbar St. \nThere is parking available on Camosun St.\n\nWhat to bring: Bring your camera\, binoculars if you have — we will have a pair to share — a magnifying glass and\, most importantly\, don’t forget your curiosity.\n\nWhat to wear: Dress for the weather. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of connecting with and learning more about our local plants!\n\n\nThis event will take place at the Bluffs Recreation Site (North 54.7677 North\, -127.1651 West)\, a 4.5 km drive from downtown Smithers. \n\n\nThis event will be led by Jean Chirstian\, a local master herbalist and retired classical homeopath.  We will meet at the Bluff’s parking lot from where the explorer day event will start.  Walking along the first 200 metres of the Bluffs “Boardwalk” Trail we will identify medicinal and edible plants\, collecting some of the edibles.  Returning to the picnic table near the parking lot\, we will make a salad and herbal tea from ingredients collected.  Bring a plate or bowl\, a cup\, and a fork to taste what we create.  And a bag lunch for those who can stay for lunch and socializing. \nAnyone needing a ride or wishing to follow another vehicle to the Bluff’s can meet in front of the Scotia Bank for a 9:30 am departure. \nSaturday June 20th \n\n10am – 12pm\nRegister here: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/native-plant-walk-and-talk-tickets-1987027179784?aff=oddtdtcreator

Please join us for a walk in Cypress Park with the Discover Parks Ambassadors.\n\n\nWhere: Cypress Park – Yew Lake Trailhead/Cypress Creek Lodge. Meet in front of Cypress Creek lodge\, the big building at the end of the parking lot. Look for the Discover Parks Ambassadors in bright orange shirts!\nWhat: This guided walk will take us on an easy trail through the Cypress Park Yew Lake trail. The Discover Parks ambassadors will share their knowledge about local ecology with us.\nWhen: July 5th\, 10-11:30 am. Come a bit early since the parking lot can be busy.\n\n\nThis walk is on the easy Yew Lake trail. It was a hit last time!
