DESCRIPTION:NatureKids BC and the Elders Council for Parks in BC are hosting an interactive puppet show\, “The Adventures of Cheetwoot the\nBear.”  The show is designed to help children learn about the natural diet and behavior of bears\, and the importance of preventing bears from entering our communities.  Set in the past on Mount Seymour\, Willie the Wolf warns Cheetwoot to stay away from humans\, but despite the teachings Cheetwoot received from his mother on how to find natural food in the forest\, he can’t resist the smell of a human’s huckleberry pie. \nSuitable for children age 3-7; all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  The show will be followed by a bear food scavenger hunt outside. The cost for this activity is $4 per child\, the Cowichan Valley Naturalists Society has generously offered to covered the remainder of the cost.\n\nDress for the weather and wear rubber boots. DESCRIPTION:Astronomy Evening! \nOur next upcoming event will be at a special date and time so that we can observe the stars! A physics professor\, Dr. Joanne Rosvick\, at Thompson Rivers University will be leading the evening at talking us about stars\, space rocks and more. Bring your astronomy questions and nature journal to record the things you learn. We will have a chance to look at the moon and stars through the observatory on the roof! As this is somewhat weather permitting\, we have two dates planned just in case. We will meet at 6:30pm on Monday March 26\, if it is clear and Tuesday\, March 27th if it isn’t. We will be in touch with more details closer to the event. We know evenings are busy times for families\, so we will keep it to about an hour. Just long enough to see the moon! This is an indoor event at one location\, so come on out even if you are running late.

DESCRIPTION:We have a great opportunity to learn more about birds and help with the nest box program at our Salmon Arm foreshore. Our resident biologist\, Diane Wittner will be leading the group with some help from SABNES (Salmon Arm Bay Nature Enhancement Society).\n\nThere are some new nest boxes to be stained and put up.
