Raptors too! A Red-tailed Hawk is often seen there in a lone\, fir tree.We’ll share tips on using your binoculars effectively. Perhaps you might like to learn touse the Merlin app! An Ebird checklist for this count is a must and we will submit it toBirds Canada where they can use our numbers in scientific research. So\, not only willyou be learning your local birds and having fun\, you’ll also be supporting birdconservation!The Christmas Bird Count is an annual worldwide census of bird species\, which hasbeen going on for 126 years\, in Canada. The data pool we will contribute to is criticalwith understanding the changes that climate change is bringing to avian species.When: January 4\, from 1 – 3 in the afternoonWhere: Meet in Xwaaqwu’um\, (Burgoyne Bay) at the Cultural circle just above the topparking lotBring: Binoculars (We do have a few binoculars to lend out.)Wear warm clothing and good footwear\, even rain gear should it be necessary.
