Please see details below:\n\n\nDate: Tuesday\, June 23\, 2026\nTime: 1:00pm – 2:30pm (check-in at 12:45pm)\nLocation: Strathcona Community Garden (759 Malkin Ave)\n\n\nLearn about plant leaf shapes and why plant diversity is important. Students will collect leaves from native and invasive plants in the gardens and use sun-sensitive paper to create their own nature-based art to take back home. This field trip takes place at Strathcona Community Gardens on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam)\, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish)\, and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.\n\nRSVP today\n\nPlease bring water\, a snack\, and weather appropriate clothing.\n\nAccessibility: Gardens have unpaved pathways with a steep incline from the road. Students with mobility challenges or who use wheelchairs or other mobility devices may have trouble navigating the gardens. Please join us for a walk in Cypress Park with the Discover Parks Ambassadors.\n\n\nWhere: Cypress Park – Yew Lake Trailhead/Cypress Creek Lodge. Meet in front of Cypress Creek lodge\, the big building at the end of the parking lot. Look for the Discover Parks Ambassadors in bright orange shirts!\nWhat: This guided walk will take us on an easy trail through the Cypress Park Yew Lake trail. The Discover Parks ambassadors will share their knowledge about local ecology with us.\nWhen: July 5th\, 10-11:30 am. Come a bit early since the parking lot can be busy.\n\n\nThis walk is on the easy Yew Lake trail. It was a hit last time! SUMMARY:COMOX - Big Canoe Paddle
DESCRIPTION:The Comox Nature Club will be participating in the Big Canoe Paddle at Comox Lake!\n\n\nWhen: July 18th from 3pm – 6pm\nWhere: Cumberland Lake Park Campground\nWho: The Big Canoe Paddle is geared towards 3rd graders but because we have adults going it will be suitable for 6-12.\n\n\n\nThe Big Canoe Paddle from 3:30 to 5:30 for children over 6 requires one adult to accompany them.\nYou will notice on the sign up sheet a spot for your normal family sign up and then an added spot for the child(ren) paddling and the one adult accompanying.\nPlease include the ages of the child (you can leave your age out).  🙂\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe event will be land activities\, beach play and enjoying the company of fellow nature lovers. While some are paddling we will continue the land and lake fun!  We will have a light snack and encourage families to pack a picnic dinner and a blanket.  Please reach out to us if you have any questions and I will do my best to answer them.  We do need a min of 8 people for the canoe and max of 13.  If the numbers are high we do have the opportunity to shorten our paddle time to give space for 2 trips (one group would do the loading of the canoe in the water and the other would do the clean up with paddling for both groups).\n\nRegister at the Google Form
