SUMMARY:NatureKids BC
DESCRIPTION:NatureKids BC and the Elders Council for Parks in BC are hosting an interactive puppet show\, “The Adventures of Cheetwoot the\nBear.”  The show is designed to help children learn about the natural diet and behavior of bears\, and the importance of preventing bears from entering our communities.  Set in the past on Mount Seymour\, Willie the Wolf warns Cheetwoot to stay away from humans\, but despite the teachings Cheetwoot received from his mother on how to find natural food in the forest\, he can’t resist the smell of a human’s huckleberry pie. \nSuitable for children age 3-7; all children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  The show will be followed by a bear food scavenger hunt outside. Please feel free to bring snacks for your children or grandchildren. \nRVSP to info@naturekidsbc.ca. Space is limited. \nLocation: 1620 Mount Seymour Road\, North Vancouver. \nSponsored by the Elders Council for Parks with CD Music by the North Shore Celtic Ensemble.

SUMMARY:EASTERN FRASER VALLEY
DESCRIPTION:The buds are swelling\, and the birds are busying themselves with calling for mates and searching for nest sites – spring is almost here. Among the trees and bushes animals hide\, sleep\, build nests\, drink nectar\, eat luscious berries\, and pluck plump insects from under leaves. \nHabitat loss means that this idyllic setting is becoming scarcer\, and we think our NatureKids are exactly the conservation heroes needed to create just such a place\, a hide-and-seek for birds and other critters. \nPlease join us for a stewardship planting in one another’s good company and learn from our remarkable and amusing nature mentor\, Gord Gadsden\, on March 17 from 1-3 p.m. at the Cheam Lake Wetlands. This event is rain or shine as the time is right to allow the roots to establish themselves\, while the rain is plentiful.

SUMMARY:KAMLOOPS
DESCRIPTION:Astronomy Evening! \nOur next upcoming event will be at a special date and time so that we can observe the stars! A physics professor\, Dr. Joanne Rosvick\, at Thompson Rivers University will be leading the evening at talking us about stars\, space rocks and more. Bring your astronomy questions and nature journal to record the things you learn. We will have a chance to look at the moon and stars through the observatory on the roof! As this is somewhat weather permitting\, we have two dates planned just in case. We will meet at 6:30pm on Monday March 26\, if it is clear and Tuesday\, March 27th if it isn’t. We will be in touch with more details closer to the event. We know evenings are busy times for families\, so we will keep it to about an hour. Just long enough to see the moon! This is an indoor event at one location\, so come on out even if you are running late.

SUMMARY:COMOX VALLEY
DESCRIPTION:Earth Day Fish Count \nWe are going to do the Millard-Piercy Watershed Conservation Trail Walk\, which includes a guided interpretive trail and a chance to find and learn about various natural values along the trail. We will also learn a bit about what it means to live in a watershed and will get introduced to the work of the Millard-Piercy Stewards. If the weather cooperates this week\, we may even get to help the Stewards with their daily fish count!\n\nWe are lucky to have Steve Williams join us as our Guest Leader on Sunday. Steve regularly attends NatureKids with his granddaughter\, Ruby\, and is a member of the Millard-Piercy Stewards.\n\nWhere to meet\nThe Conservation Trail Walk is south of the Airpark walk. Head south on Cliffe Avenue and turn left onto 31st st. just before you get to the last set of lights on your way out of town. There is parking there and we will meet near the big fish.\n\nWhat to bring\nConsider packing a snack and drink. If the weather cooperates\, we’ll take a break at the end of the interpretive walk and enjoy the view at the estuary near Millard Road before heading back.\n\nKids are welcome/encouraged to bring journals or binoculars or other “tools” to help them explore nature with a light touch.
