DESCRIPTION:Join Salt Spring NatureKids to observe and count birds in the Beddis Beach area and contribute to Citizen Science. At the beach we are sure to see several species of waterbirds\, grebes\, and possibly loons. We’ll set up a special scope by which to view them.Hiking back into the orchard we’ll count sparrows\, woodpeckers\, blackbirds\, finches\, kinglets\, and you name it. Raptors!We’ll share tips on using your binoculars effectively. Perhaps you might like to learn to use the Merlin app! We’ll do an ebird for this count and will make sure to submit our count numbers to Birds Canada where they can be used in scientific research.When: December 30th \, from 1 – 3p mWhere: Kathleen and Heather will meet you at the beginning of the path to BeddisBeachBring: Binoculars and bird guides. (We do have a few binoculars to lend out.)Wear warm clothing and good footwear\, even rain gear should it be necessary.Rain or shine the birds will be there!Please register with Kathleen: khmaser@shaw.ca
