SUMMARY:Snakesss in BC\, Threatening or Threatened? (Virtual Explorer Day)
DESCRIPTION:Snakesss in BC\, Threatening or Threatened? \n\nJoin us for another amazing virtual event with snake biologist and researcher Dana Eye. We will discuss the nine snake species found in BC and what makes them special. Dana will also share what a day in the field looks like for a snake biologist and why it is important we study them! Get ready for an interactive presentation filled with videos and photos of snakes and other desert dwelling creatures!!\n\nAbout our Nature Mentor:\n\nDana is a biologist pursuing her Master of Science at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops\, British Columbia. In 2017\, with the support of Osoyoos Indian Band and Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre\, Dana began working on the first study on pregnant female rattlesnakes in Western Canada. To date\, she and her colleagues have successfully tracked the movements of twenty-five pregnant female rattlesnakes and found 18 birthing sites. This research will provide critical information for future management decisions and conservation of this threatened species.\n\nRegistration details coming soon!
