Join us at Camosun Bog in Pacific Spirit Park on Sunday, May 31st, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (approx) for a spring exploration of the amazing Camosun Bog. We will be joining volunteers Noriko Nakaya and Eleanore Wellwood from Camosun Bog Restoration Group (CBRG) to learn more about what they do, what CBRG is and the importance of maintaining this natural ecosystem that still remains in our city after so many others have disappeared. We will see a variety of species, including sphagnum mosses, sundews (carnivorous plants), bog cranberry, interesting fungi and different birds, perhaps even a Turkey Vulture which is very common around the bog.
Interesting fact: Camosun Bog’s history can be traced back ten thousand years!
