On a brisk spring morning at Jericho Beach Park, Vancouver NatureKids BC families and volunteers collaborated with volunteers from the Jericho Stewardship Group (JSG).
Together they planted 200 Douglas-fir and Western red cedar trees which are native to British Columbia! They also enthusiastically dug up and removed invasive plants, including Himalayan blackberry and English ivy. Want to learn more about invasive species? Check out this fun game!
Jericho Beach Park is home to many native species that play important ecosystem roles. Many of the native plants species at Jericho park are rare and provide important food and shelter to native wildlife species.
