NatureKids and parents of Texada Island bundled up on this chilly February day. Guided by the wonderful Club Leaders Lisa and Carolanne, the club ventured out for another fun-filled Explorer Day adventure!
Located off the north coast of Texada Island, Raven Bay is known for its scenic trails and a charming marine park. Additionally, in this remote area, you can find tons of access to camping, fishing and kayaking.
The day started with a warm round of introductions and a welcoming song of gratitude among new and returning members before heading towards Raven Bay.
On this beautiful day, families took the opportunity to explore the coastal region while trekking through the quaint area that leads to Raven Bay. With leaders at the head, NatureKids inquisitively studied the area within the mesmerizing temperate rainforest.

The little explorers delighted in seeing some of the local wildlife located off the Coastal Western Hemlock biogeoclimatic zone. Some frolicked through the old-growth trails and played while others fearlessly ventured off discovering some of their curiosities within the natural wonders of Texada Island.
In these spectacular depths, paths wind through moss-covered forests, where you’ll find majestic groves of large cedars, alders, and Douglas fir trees.

The day still had many adventures left! Upon reaching Raven Bay, everyone warmed themselves next to the cozy fire, enjoying hot tea and freshly cooked hotdogs that the families and leaders helped put together. Club leader Lisa expressed, “Our hike to Raven Bay was truly nourishing, witnessing children joyfully immersed in coastal exploration.”
The Texada NatureKids ended the day honing their fire-making skills with Club leader Carolanne and crafting survival bracelets with the guidance of Lisa and Kerstin.
What a day to remember! Thank you to everyone who came out, this was a true collaborative community effort. With parents and volunteers lending a hand when needed, it ensures memorable and fulfilling experiences for all!
