Meet Neil, one of our amazing NatureKids BC volunteers that supports nature connections across B.C. by illustrating and creating fun resources for NatureKids BC. Check out her colouring sheets here!
A bit about Neil!
I have been an environmental researcher for years, working extensively in waste management and education. I am passionate about teaching children and inspiring them to care for the environment. I love hiking and exploring the world around me. I also enjoy photography and videography in nature, capturing its beauty through my lens. I believe our planet needs care and education to ensure a sustainable future.
Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you experience nature around you?
I have always felt deeply connected to nature. I enjoy walking in the city, exploring mountains and forests, and spending time by the ocean. Photography and videography are also ways I experience and capture the beauty of nature around me.
What do you like about volunteering and what inspired you to join NatureKids BC?
Volunteering gives me a chance to give back to the community and to share my passion for the environment. I believe that helping children connect with nature is one of the most meaningful things we can do for the future. I joined NatureKids BC because I was inspired by its mission to engage children and families in outdoor learning and environmental awareness.
What inspired you to become involved in environmental art and design?
I see art and design as powerful tools to tell stories and inspire change. My background in waste management made me realize how important it is to find creative ways to raise awareness. Through environmental art and design, I try to combine creativity with sustainability to encourage people, especially children, to think about their relationship with the Earth.
