On a sunny Monday morning in June, the Burnaby Home Learners Club explored the Alaksen National Wildlife Area.
On a warm sunny morning in July, Kelowna NatureKids enjoyed an Explorer Day at Mission Creek Regional Park, a beautiful spot for families to enjoy walking trails, a playground, a children’s fishing pond, picnic areas, and a Kokanee spawning channel.
Our club had the honour of learning about native plants with T’uy’t’tanat Cease Wyss (Skwxwu7mesh, Sto:lo, Hawaiian, Swiss), an educator, interdisciplinary artist and Indigenous ethnobotanist engaged in community based teaching and sharing.
At the beginning of June, Texada Island NatureKids enjoyed a coastal foraging Explorer Day at Shelter Point. Texada families were joined by Jade Berg, founded of Wild Isle Cooking.
